Okay..... We know he's not stupid,.... so what else could it be???

Maybe he just doesn't care about things like the Planet, or perhaps he's bought and paid for, like our Supreme Court Judges.....

Or Maybe he is the.....
God,... you've got to love stupid people. They're everywhere.
But all kidding aside, What the hell is our President thinking when he touts the "Drill Baby Drill" mentality. His facts just don't add up.
Not only are the "New Safety Standards" he wants to enforce non-existent,...they're actually the same standards that were in effect in 2009. What's worse,... it's even the same companies that caused the Gulf Disaster, that are receiving new deep water drilling permits. I mean,..... come on!!!

Let's just pretend for a minute that we actually learned something from this last disastrous experience. Why in the hell would we want to take a chance on a repeat performance? Isn't that the definition of "insanity"?.... Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.

Damn!.... Maybe he is the Antichrist.... (Maniacal Laughter..who's spelling I have no idea of....)

1. We have the right to know and want genetically modified foods labeled.
2. We want factory farmed animal and genetically modified animal products labeled.
3. We want independent, transparent, long-term studies done on the safety of GMO’s for animals, plants
and humans.
4. We want the organic industry protected from cross-contamination and law suits to organic farmers.
The FDA currently considers GM foods “substantially equivalent” and therefore doesn’t require labeling.
There is a growing body of evidence that show:
• Health and environmental concerns.
• Corporate control of world food and seed supplies, and monopolization through patents, government
lobbying and corporate interest over human interest in all levels of government.
• Monsanto is the leader in GM patents.

(NaturalNews) "Recent reports out of India say that multinational biotechnology giant Monsanto has once again skirted the law by clandestinely planting its genetically-modified (GM) corn without receiving approval to do so. Nitish Kumar, chief minister of the Indian state of Bihar, recently wrote a letter to India's environment minister Jairam Ramesh explaining the situation. Just days earlier, Ramesh had denied Monsanto permission to plant the crops at all.

When he discovered that Monsanto had schemed with India's Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC) and the Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR) to plant genetically-modified (GM) corn without official approval, Kumar was outraged. Kumar had previously written a letter to Ramesh reinforcing his opposition to the GM corn, and shortly thereafter Ramesh asked GEAC to block Monsanto's corn plantings that it had first approved back in December."

Tribal leaders in the Pakistani region of North Waziristan have vowed revenge against the US after drones killed more than 40 people near the Afghan border.
"We are a people who wait 100 years to exact revenge. We never forgive our enemy," the elders said in a statement.
Thursday's attack has caused fury - most of the dead were tribal elders and police attending an open-air meeting.
Thursday's drone strike is thought to have killed more civilians than any other such attack since 2006.

This kind of action speaks louder than anything else the United States does throughout the world. A time will come when we will pay for our aggressions. What will that cost be, and who will pay it?

IF WE LIVE THROUGH THIS NUCLEAR DISASTER...... WILL WE LEARN ANYTHING?

Before you flee the country in panic,.... let me say this map is not gospel..... Repeat.... It ain't necessarily so.

I apologize for initially spreading this as a "Dooms Day" prediction. What can I say? I'm susceptible to bad info from the internet, just like you.

I have just learned that these "projections" are probably "Bunk". That's right,.... I said "Bunk"... But, I also said.."probably".
According to Snopes, this map, which has circulated the internet, shows projected rates that are closer to nuclear attack levels than the radiation levels projected by the events taking place in Japan.


What you're seeing above is a map of projected radiation exposure should any of the nuclear power plants in Japan melt down. Pretty ominous stuff, isn't it?
But,... according to Snopes..... the truth, is closer to the statement below.

#1. Who should we trust to give us the straight scoop?
#2. Aren't these the same people that have reassured us from the git-go that "Nuclear Power is safe and clean"?
#3. What else can they say.....???

So,... will we learn anything from this? Like maybe nuclear power isn't really safe. Or, maybe it has the potential to destroy the planet. I don't know about you, but as far as I'm concerned, we don't need this kind of energy. Anything that has the potential to destroy all of us, just isn't worth it.
There are safer, cleaner, more planet friendly ways to get power. If we don't demand our government to seek those ways, we are contributing to our own extinction. It's only a matter of time.

WHAT YOU MEAN "WE" MR. PRESIDENT??
I used to think you were "the Man", but I know better, now.

Yeah you're "the man" alright! The man who condones torture. The man who is proving himself to be a liar, and a puppet of the "Marxist" regime left by George W. Bush.
You've turned your back on the people who put you in office, and now,... you're turning your back on every principal that makes up what this country was founded on. You make me sick!

Do you really think that subscribing to torturing "Detainees" is what this country stands for? Do you have any principles left? When you were elected, people told me that "there were no more crooked politics than Chicago Politics". I stood up for you. I told them "you were our hope." I was dead wrong. You're not my hope. You're exactly what they said you were. "A crooked hypocrite politician" of the worst kind.

When people said you were like "Hitler", I stood up for you then, as well. But they were right on that count, too. If anyone in your administration has the courage to speak their own mind, they're out the door faster than you can say "F#%k off and Die". Does the name "P.J. Crowley" have any deep meaning for you? You forced him out of the State Department because he had the balls to tell the truth about the treatment of Bradley Manning. That truth,....in his words, Manning's treatment... "is ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid."
Crowley will step down as early as Sunday afternoon, the officials said, because White House officials are furious about his suggestion that the Obama administration is mistreating Manning, the Army private who is being held in solitary confinement in Quantico, Virginia,
and is now being stripped naked each night, and forced to stand morning inspection the same way,... "For his own protection" is the official party line, that the President is pushing.

"Does anything have any deep meaning for you, Mr. President? Certainly not the principles that this country was founded on. If you think you're raising the opinions of the rest of the world towards the United States, you better think again. Governing by FEAR, rather than RESPECT, is a trait I never thought you would sink to. I guess I was wrong about that, too.

THE SHOES OF A PRESIDENT........

They're not the shoes he described he'd put on and march along with unions in.

As I watched our Nation's leader answer questions in his Press Conference, yesterday,... I was struck by how thorough his responses were. Then came the question about Bradley Manning's incarceration...... Suddenly President Obama went into "Bill Bo-jangles Robinson" mode. He should have been wearing these......
He completely tapped danced around the question, and stated that... he asked his military advisor in charge of that, if the treatment was appropriate, and his response was "YES".

DUH!!! What the hell else could the man in charge of torture say? Well, Mr. President, we're making life a living hell for the little terrorist! By the time we're done with him, he won't know his own name.
That probably would be closer to the truth!
But our fearless leader doesn't really want to hear that. Just like he doesn't want to hear that you and I aren't happy with him, or the direction this country is headed. He has surrounded himself with elitist cronies held over from the Bush administration, and he is embracing his new found friends more each day.

Oh,.. he drops us a carrot every now and then. Usually something that won't take money out of the coffers that finance weapons and war. Something like "Don't ask, don't tell", or dropping the pursuit of Gay marriage persecution. It's just enough to make the far right rail with righteous indignation, without detracting from their real agenda. Making themselves richer, and suppressing the rights of the working class. The less rights you and I have, the less chance we'll have to get in the way of their agenda, and the less chance we'll have bring their evils to light.

So, while President Obama professes his allegiance to the American people and a democratic government, we become in danger of losing more of our rights each day. As long as we can foot the bill, we are useful. But, if we protest too much, and the storm troopers come for us, who will be left to protest, then?

Until whistle blowers like Bradley Manning are revered for exposing the evil that we perpetrate on others,.... that evil will continue to flourish, unchecked by moral conscience.

So you're not a Union Member,..... So What! You could be NEXT!

On this day, it behooves us to remember the words of Martin Niemoller.

"First they came for the communists," he wrote, "and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me."

Even as the turmoil continues in Egypt, their workers find time to show support for Wisconsin public employees.

This struggle is orchestrated with more in mind than just squelching "the powerful labor unions". It's an all out attack to demolish the Democratic Party in Wisconsin. In this state Democrats are the true "Labor Party". If the GOP can crush public sector labor, they crush the Democratic Party, as well.

And when they're done here, where will they do this next? In your state?..... To your job and benefits? We've got to stop this in its tracks... Now! It's time to show support for the workers. It's time to stand up and say "Enough, God damn it!"

The American Flag may only "legally" be flown upside down as a sign of distress. I urge everyone to fly your flags upside down, because this country is truly in distress. Show them the shame they are perpetrating on working Americans.

LAWLESS WISCONSIN GOP SCREWS PUBLIC WORKERS..... So Much For Democracy!

But on Wednesday, Republicans advanced the measure by stripping it of fiscal measures requiring a 20-member quorum for action."

Is this the straw that will push Americans to say enough? What's left when our own government acts like Hitler marching through Poland? Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has declared an all out war on working people. His unlawful action is akin to a dictatorship. It's time for Americans everywhere to say "NO" If we can't find a voice now, we never will.

So what's left for the workers to do? STRIKE? Did the Rogue legislature also strip that right from the workers, as well? Whether they did or not,..... the time is near. Look at Ohio,..... Who's next? Michigan is trying the same tactic. It's time for "Workers of the World, Unite!"... Yeah,... I know that sounds like "Communist Propaganda", but, what the hell is being left for workers. If we don't stick together, we are doomed to pay for the mismanagement of our government, with the sacrifice of our very existence.

The American way of life is at stake here. This is only the first salvo. The hypocrites and right wing pundits would have us believe that we are the cure for the deficit. They rail against us with unbridled self-righteousness. While they spew their contempt for union workers, their hypocrisy comes out to slap us in the face.

Michele Bachmann...... The Lights Are On, But Nobody's Home.... Except Maybe This Time.

It really scares me when I find myself agreeing with Michele Bachmann. It's positively spooky! Could she actually be right?

Don’t tread on Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s light bulbs. She reintroduced her Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act this week on the House floor. This would repeal the mandate to phase out incandescent light bulbs in the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act.

Bachmann said, "The government has no business telling an individual what kind of light bulb to buy. In 2007, Congress overstepped its bounds by mandating that only 'energy efficient' light bulbs may be sold after January 1, 2012. This mandate has sweeping effects on American families and businesses and needs serious consideration before taking effect.”

Her bill would keep current standards in place as long as the comptroller general says it leads to consumer savings, reduced carbon-dioxide emissions and it's safe.

No surprise here, Rep. Ron Paul is one of her co-sponsors.

My Comment on this Bright idea....

I'm a big fan of saving energy and recycling, but,... It's been my experience that there are some applications for light bulbs where the new "Low Wattage" florescent bulbs just don't work. For one thing, you can't use them if you have a dimmer on a fixture. Plus,... they are more expensive than regular bulbs. Like maybe five times as expensive. Another point of contention is that they are considered a "hazardous" item, when disposing of them, where as regular bulbs are considered recyclable in most states.

In my studio,... "The Fireman's Forge", I have six 100 watt, low wattage florescent bulbs. The total wattage use per hour is actually 146 watts for all six fixtures. The light from these is enough to adequately light my entire shop. I've also replaced all the flood lights, and bulbs in my house and barn with "low wattage" florescent bulbs. They work very well when the application is suited for them. But,.... Do I want my government to tell me what bulbs I can use?..... I DON'T THINK SO!!!

SPEAKING OF HYPOCRITES...... How Are Those "Christian" Values Working Out For You? .... Who Would Jesus Kill?


In yet another wonderful decision by the Supreme Court...(AKA The best judges corporations can buy).. they upheld the rights of citizens to protest against gays at military funerals. Now there's a show of real compassion. As if those people burying their fallen loved ones don't have enough grief in their lives. These self righteous hypocrites that profess their own set of values, as "true Christian values", just have to insult the memory of those who died in service of their country.

Is there anything lower? The answer.... "yes", that would be the Supreme Court Judges who couldn't find the courage to stand up for all Americans, but suddenly find their justification to stand up for bigotry and intolerance.
So,... my question is.... Where were these afforded rights when citizens wanted to protest against a wrongful war, or the WTO, or an evil idiot of a President? They allowed the storm troopers to attack those citizens in force. Where was the Supreme Court, then?

Only Justice Samuel Alito cast the lone dissenting vote, and strongly disagreed.
"Our profound national commitment to free and open debate is not a license for the vicious verbal assault that occurred in this case," he said.
At least someone had the decency to stand up for the grieving families, and true values that used to be the values of this nation.

So,... when did it happen? When did we become everything we'd fought against since our inception in 1776? What brought us to forsake all values of human decency and compassion? When did it become more important to know who was having sex with who, than to know right from wrong? How did we become so arrogant as to turn our backs on the very values that built this great nation?

It makes me ashamed to say... "I'm an American", unless I can explain "I'm a liberal, as well". If this is what our country is coming to, then I can understand why people have come to hate us. Our hypocrisy towards our own professed values are a blatant slap in the face to all who believe in honesty, freedom, and democracy. It sickens me to see the direction our country is headed.

You want to know why zealots like Timothy McVeigh, or Jared Loughner, are becoming more frequent? Or,.. why someone like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann have attained such popularity? Look around! Fear and hatred are the root cause. They are bred by intolerance, and fed by the subverted idea that this "Christian" country can do no wrong. "Your either with us, or against us". Those words uttered by George W. Bush, as he turned his back on the United Nations Security Council, might as well have declared "open season" on America. He flushed whatever credibility this country had left right down the proverbial toilet.

FARRAKAHN SAYS MID-EAST UPRISINGS WILL COME TO THE U.S.


Until now, there was virtually nothing that Louis Farrakahn said, that I agreed with.
But, I've got to tell you..... I think he's right about this!
Eventually, the people of this country will rise up and show these hypocrites in government... that "We're Mad as Hell, and We're Not Going Take It Anymore!"

Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America faces imminent uprisings that mirror those in the Middle East.

“What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt … Libya, in Bahrain … what you see happening there … you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door,” Farrakhan said in a booming voice, thousands of followers cheering in his wake.

Farrakhan also called on President Barack Obama to allow protesters to march, urging the president not to attack innocent people when they do.

The controversial minster spoke to a packed house at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont as part of the 81st annual celebration of Saviours' Day, which marks the birth of the faith’s founder, W. Fard Muhammad.

For about four hours, Farrakhan spoke and jumped from topic to topic, citing religious texts.
He praised Scientology and its founder L. Ron Hubbard.
He did get a little "Out There" in his diatribe, stating...
“L. Ron Hubbard is so exceedingly valuable to every Caucasian person on this earth,”.....
“... L. Ron Hubbard himself was and is trying to civilize white people and make them better human beings and take away from them their reactive minds … Mr. Hubbard recognized that his people have to be civilized,” Farrakhan said to a cheering crowd.

Farrakhan also described a 1985 religious experience in which he ascended into a flying saucer and heard the voice of Elijah Muhammad predicting historical events that came to pass.
Okay..... It could happen..... or not... But, that aside, I think he's dead on to events that will take place in this country. They are already happening in Madison, Wisconsin. And,... there was an instance rioting in Seattle, Washington, where about 30 people dressed in black threw flares at police cars, and vandalized some small businesses in response to a police shooting that was ruled "unjustified", but no criminal charges were filed against police. (Is it just me?... Or, does that seem to be happening time and time again, lately?)

Whether or not these demonstrations will be peaceful is still in the wind, but, I believe they are inevitable, given the course of our government, and its treatment of the working class. We are under assault by the very people we elected. How long can they expect us to take it???

The Way of Our Fallen Idol, is A Hard Road To Follow..... Especially When That Road Was Paved With The Promises of Change.

We elected him in an aura of respect and awe, but we were soon to find out, he was a false idol. Sure, he's charismatic,... and literate, as well, but, ... he's proving himself to be the hypocrite that just caught on that he's on the ride of his life, and there's no turning back.
Will he change parties before his ride is over? It's starting to look like he already has.

What happened to the man we elected? Who slipped the giant green pod from outer space into his office, and replaced him with a Clone? A Clone so evil, he could smile his loving smile, look us in the face,... and turn his back on his promises and our dreams without batting an eye. A clone who's two faced lies are carved with the unspeakable mark of corporate America.

The "Dark Mark" of the GOP seems to hang on his every decision. His promises of change reduced to compromise after compromise that only seem to benefit the rich. The promised quest for truth, transparency, and justice have all but disappeared from his agenda. Forsaking his many worshipers for the benefit a the few.

The President does his famous impersonation of Elmer Gantry.
The scary thing is that we all believed him.

Let's take a look at just a few of those promises we were lead to believe, shall we?
#1. Rewarding whistle blowers for their courage to expose the wrongs and waste in Government.
I guess we should ask Bradley Manning about that,.... if we could talk to him, that is. Or maybe Julian Assange....
#2. How about those tax cuts for the richest 2% of the Americans,.. while the rest of us get "Bupkiss".
#3. Accountability for Wall Street dragging this nation's economy right down the toilet. I guess we can all see where that went..... We paid the bill.... they got the GOLD,... and we got the SHAFT!
#4. And while we're on the subject of accountability, where's that justice that was promised for the war criminals that lied to us, congress, and lead us into the war in Iraq.
I guess if you just make torture an accepted practice, then there really aren't any criminals.
#5. This is a good one.... "The bulldozing of homes on the West Bank by Israel has to stop".
That irrational talk was short lived,wasn't it? Who got to you Mr. Obama?
#6. The closing of Guantanamo Bay Detention Center. That seemed like a slam dunk, for what,.... about a minute?

The list of broken promises gets bigger every day. And,.. with each broken promise, our Constitutional rights get laid aside. Covered by the rhetoric of a government that no longer sees its citizens as an asset, but instead,... sees them as a pain in the ass of the new world order. The order of the "CORPORATOCRACY". Where profit is king.

DAY OF RAGE planned by Palestinians. WHO THE HELL CAN BLAME THEM?

Once again our illustrious leader reneges on one of his promises. Who's pulling the strings of our puppet President?
Why can Israel do no wrong? There's not a soul on this earth that doesn't no the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza by Israel is Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. So how does a 14 to 1 vote of the U.N. Security Council equate to the power of a veto????

"Palestinians are planning a "day of rage" on Friday in response to the US wielding its veto against a UN security council resolution condemning Israeli settlements.
The US decision to use its veto has sparked a furious reaction in the West Bank and Gaza.

Anti-US rallies took place in the West Bank towns of Bethlehem, Tulkarem and Jenin this weekend after the 14-1 vote on the resolution, in which the US stood alone against the rest of the security council, including Britain, Germany and France. It voted in contradiction of its own policy.

In Gaza, Hamas described the US position as outrageous and said Washington was "completely biased" towards Israel.
Ibrahim Sarsour, an Israeli-Arab member of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, said it was time to tell the US president, Barack Obama, to "go to hell".

"Obama cannot be trusted," he wrote in an open letter to the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas. "We knew his promises were lies. The time has come to spit in the face of the Americans."

The Egyptian foreign ministry said the US veto would "lead to more damage of the United States' credibility on the Arab side as a mediator in peace efforts".

The use of the veto for the first time under Obama will strengthen perceptions in the Arab world that for the US, protection of its ally Israel overrides its desire for a just outcome for Palestinians in the decades-old conflict."

"After the vote, the US ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, told the security council that Washington agreed with "our fellow council members, and indeed with the wider world, about the folly and illegitimacy of continued Israel settlement activity"."

Do ya think?... What happened to that promise Mr. President? If you're the leader of this country, how about trying to set an example by following up on your own statement.... "The occupation of the West Bank by Israel has to stop." Was that just another one of your hollow promises? I'd say... Damn Straight it was.

You want to broker peace in the middle east? Then,... do something for someone else, other than Israel. You hummed and hawed over Egypt. Spoke out of both sides of your mouth about how "We stood behind the Egyptian people", but you couldn't find the words to say that Mubarak was an evil dictator that needed to be removed. You jumped the fence on that one, and you're trying to jump the fence, now. You can't play both sides of the game.

Eventually, you're going to have to make a choice. And, that choice is going to be either... STAND UP FOR WHAT'S RIGHT.... or.... LIE DOWN WITH ISRAEL to the bitter end.
I, for one was raised to do what's right. My parents taught me to "stand up for right over wrong". It's time you did the same. No matter who the "Wrong" are. It's time for tough love, Mr. President. "Just say no".

LIARS and CHARLATANS translate to the GOP on the Deficit.

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of these lying SOB's laying the deficit on the backs of municipal union workers and Social Security !
It just ain't so, and they know it.


That's like saying Iraq was responsible for 911. Do you all remember that lie? The one that got us into the "WAR WITHOUT END". AKA... The search for weapons of mass destruction. It just ain't so! We couldn't find them in Iraq, so now we're off to chase the Taliban, in Iran. Whose next?... Where do we go from here to spend ourselves into the biggest deficit to hit this country in its history?

"Nothing is more important in the face of war than cutting taxes" - Tom DeLay, 2003 You all remember him, don't you?

That's the GOP's prepackaged solution for just about everything. That, and "fixing Social Security". They keep telling us it's broken. Not yet it isn't! But, if they have their way it will be. Then they can convince their loyal followers that "privatization" will cure the socialistic blight. THAT'S PURE BULLSHIT!

I agree with him completely. We're in a "WAR" in this country. A war between the rich and the middle class.(a soon to be extinct species if the GOP has its way) We are being lied to on a scale far grander than we can even imagine. The rich aren't concerned with this country. They're concerned with their own wealth getting bigger and bigger. It doesn't matter if you and I fall by the wayside as casualties of this war. It's a global economy that brings with it,...... global riches.

People want jobs. They want security in their lives. But, the GOP wants us in a constant state of "CRISIS". Then, they can whip out one of their prepackaged solutions, dump it on top of us, and make us fight like hell,.. just to get dumped on by their next "CRISIS". It always comes down to the bottom line..."More and More to the rich at the expense of everyone else."

If there's ever to be a "Revolution" in this country, it will be an economic one. Between the "HAVES" and the "HAVE-NOTS". BUT,.... will there be anyone left who can afford to fight it?

Speaker of The House To Be Replaced.... By Someone We Can Trust!!


Due to his complete incomprehensibility for the plight of Americans everywhere, he is being replaced by someone with a more attuned philosophy to common sense. It is hopeful that the new Speaker will "get a clue" to what Americans really need, and therefore lead his party to a better focus on reality. Of course,...that's almost a "gimme"......



The new Speaker of the House will be a ray of hope compared to the actions we've seen since Boehner took over.

Hey!!.. It would be an improvement!... At least we won't worry.

TORTURE???? What Torture? We Don't Want To Talk About It. And we certainly don't want you to read about it....

"Judge: Government Can Shield Its Conversations about Engaging in Torture"

Federal Judge Rosemary Collyar basically argued that the President’s need to get candid advice on how to make torture legal trumps citizens’ right to know about such illegal activity.

The ACLU has been trying to get the Government to remove more redactions in an OPR report on torture memos. In her ruling she states "While the Court recognizes the public’s interest, this interest does not overcome the need for frank discussions on serious issues that confront a President. Without a free and candid dialectic, the President cannot be properly armed with the tools required to make difficult decisions on consequential issues."

In other words,..... If The President (in this case G.W. Bush) thought he was going to have his words and questions scrutinized by the public, it would hinder his ability to make decisions concerning "the enhanced interrogation process".

Furthermore.... "Because the declaration sufficiently details its rationale for redaction, and because the public’s interest does not overcome the privilege in this case, the Court finds that Defendant has satisfied its burden as to the limited redactions withheld pursuant to the presidential communications privilege."

Sorry ACLU, but you're "S.O.L."(that's "shit out of luck" for those who don't know the phrase), pursuant to "Presidential privilege".
Where the Judge's decision really gets crazy, is that she also ruled that redactions that were in this text that from conversation that occurred while President Bush wasn't even present, were still under the auspices of "Presidential Privilege", effectively shielding statements and questions from Dick Cheney and Roberto Gonzales, as well.

Where Judge Collyer’s opinion gets even crazier, is where she accepts the government’s argument that, having left its discussion about “mock burial” unredacted in one instance, it does not have to reveal the other instances. (Yeah, that makes perfect sense, doesn't it?)

Why am I not surprised by this? The public's right to know, as described in the Freedom of Information Act, has just been effectively swept under the rug..... once again.

Eleven Muslim Students.... aka "The Irvine 11" are being charged with conspiring to disrupt the Israeli Ambassador's speech. I wonder if there would be charges filed for Israelis, if they were disrupting a German Ambassador's speech????


The students all attend UC campuses and are all members of the Muslim Student Union. All the students were suspended for a quarter, but that doesn't seem to be enough for District Atty. Tony Rackauckas. Misdemeanor criminal charges were filed against the students because the students made an "organized attempt to squelch the speaker".

According to the N.Y. Times... "When the ambassador, Michael B. Oren, came to speak last February, several students stood up, one at a time, and interrupted him with shouted complaints about Israel. When the repeated outbursts continued deep into Mr. Oren’s speech, the ambassador huddled with his security aides to decide whether to continue speaking. He did, but by the time the speech was over, 11 Muslim students had been arrested. The group became known as the “Irvine 11,” although three were students from University of California, Riverside."

Somehow, that doesn't sound that scary, or dangerous. I guess they should consider themselves lucky that they weren't charged with "Terrorism"!... But, what's really happening here? We've all seen the news shots of anti-abortion screamers and neo-nazis shouting down speakers who were just trying to give a speech and make a point. Unless you physically assaulted one of them, chances are you didn't get arrested. With the possible exception of the entire eight years of the Bush administration, free speech was still allowed in this country..... What happened to change all that?

Is it the fact that Israel can do no wrong in the white world of America and Europe? Or, is it just down right Christian racism? Are we so threatened by the word "Muslim", that we must shut them down at all costs? The idea of Muslims voicing their right to free speech in this country, seems to spark a knee-jerk reaction that transcends all reasoning. If you're "Muslim"..... you're BAD! If you're Christian,.... you're "GOOD"! If you're Israeli,..... you're "UNQUESTIONABLE".

I'm definitely not... an anti-semite, but Israel has a "get out of jail card" that seems to give them powers the rest of the world can't even comprehend. Besides wreaking havoc throughout the Mid East world, at the slightest provocation, they are daily receiving over $8,000,000 (eight million dollars) from the U.S.. It's no wonder they can be the heaviest hitters in the Mid East whenever they choose.

But, what's all this got to do with eleven Muslim students? I'm glad you asked..... In reality, it hasn't got a damn thing to do with it. But,... what it does have something to do with,... is... every day, "WE" (that would refer to "regular" people, without special agendas) are being systematically oppressed in ways that seem so innocuous, it doesn't even register to our collective consciousness as free people. The "divide and conquer" principle that was prevalent from biblical times, is being played out daily against all of us.

It doesn't matter if you're a Christian, or a Jew, or a Muslim. What matters most is..... that you don't figure it out and get together. Because together, we know the difference between right and wrong. We know that nobody should be able to bulldoze our homes, and take our land. But, if... the ideologies of culture and religion can keep us from seeing these common rights,... not to mention the money,.. then "The Powerful" will keep us at each other's throats while they reap the profits of our inattentiveness.

So,... where did "free speech" go? It went the way of the Dodo. A memory that we used to quell the "Muslim" threat, and protect us from the freedoms that would be our undoing. Fear being the great equalizer...., and,... the great divider.

"THE PATRIOT ACT" is as misnamed as California's "Clear Lake"..... and they want to extend it ..... Why don't I feel protected?

Could it be because this act has allowed the Federal Government to tap my phones without a warrant, spy on my internet without cause, detain me.... or anyone else without charge... and hold us for an unspecified time with out representation,.... or am I just paranoid????????? Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

When "W" enacted the Patriot Act in aftermath of Nine Eleven, it was a masterful stroke of "genius" (that's a term I'm not comfortable using around G.W. Bush).... but,... the truth is, that the act itself... successfully suspended the Constitution. Maybe not the "entire" document,... but, it kicked the hell out of a good percentage of it. Besides being rammed through Congress under the pretext that it was an imperative to protect our nation from "terrorism", the act took away rights of every American, and allowed "Big Brother"(Homeland Security and other agencies) to invade our lives like never before..... Without warrant or reason. Are we feeling safe, yet?

It was this same mind set that lead us into "War Without End", the never ending saga of the Bush/Cheney legacy, who's continued support by the current administration, in the name of "National Security", has propelled us to new and exciting
places, costing more than our economy could handle, and overwhelmingly being the number one cause for our current deficit. And,.... it's only going to get worse.

Now,.... Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt, has introduced legislation to extend the "Patriot Act" past it's 2013, Feb. 28th expiration date. In a statement made by Leahy... “It will promote transparency and expand privacy and civil liberties safeguards in current law",.. “It increases judicial oversight of government surveillance powers that capture information on Americans. This is a package of reforms that all Americans should support.” The expanded version will require the Department of Justice to issue "public reports". Sounds good, doesn't it? Why am I not feeling relieved?

But what about the FBI? Over the last decade, the FBI has been found to violate the Constitution, under the guise of the Patriot Act, "more times than you can shake a stick at".
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) finally (2010) received a "Court ordered", "complete" report from the FBI, under the Freedom of Information Act. The FBI was shown to be responsible for up to 40,000 violations since 9/11. A large percentage of those violations included bucking guidelines for internal oversight, abusing the National Security Letters and trampling on the Fourth Amendment.

In The Midst of World Turmoil,... a Friend Sent Me This.... It made me cry.

No,.... not the picture of my best buddy, "Bear". He's a great dog. I urge all of you to go out and rescue a pet like him from your local SPCA. When we got Bear, he was 9 months old. He'd been in the Fort Bragg SPCA shelter for seven months. Unlike many shelters, ours doesn't dispose of their animals. He was lucky.
Now read the story that brought tears to my eyes. Yeah, I know I'm a suck.



CHEYENNE - STORY by CATHERINE MOORE


"Watch out! You nearly broadsided that car!" My father yelled at me. "Can't you do anything right?"

Those words hurt worse than blows. I turned my head toward the elderly man in the seat beside me, daring me to challenge him. A lump rose in my throat as I averted my eyes. I wasn't prepared for another battle.

"I saw the car, Dad. Please don't yell at me when I'm driving."

My voice was measured and steady, sounding far calmer than I really felt.

Dad glared at me, then turned away and settled back. At home I left Dad in front of the television and went outside to collect my thoughts.... dark, heavy clouds hung in the air with a promise of rain. The rumble of distant thunder seemed to echo my inner turmoil. What could I do about him?

Dad had been a lumberjack in Washington and Oregon . He had enjoyed being outdoors and had reveled in pitting his strength against the forces of nature. He had entered grueling lumberjack competitions, and had placed often. The shelves in his house were filled with trophies that attested to his prowess.

The years marched on relentlessly. The first time he couldn't lift a heavy log, he joked about it; but later that same day I saw him outside alone, straining to lift it. He became irritable whenever anyone teased him about his advancing age, or when he couldn't do something he had done as a younger man.
Four days after his sixty-seventh birthday, he had a heart attack. An ambulance sped him to the hospital while a paramedic administered CPR to keep blood and oxygen flowing.

At the hospital, Dad was rushed into an operating room. He was lucky; he survived. But something inside Dad died. His zest for life was gone. He obstinately refused to follow doctor's orders. Suggestions and offers of help were turned aside with sarcasm and insults. The number of visitors thinned, then finally stopped altogether. Dad was left alone.

My husband, Dick, and I asked Dad to come live with us on our small farm. We hoped the fresh air and rustic atmosphere would help him adjust.

Within a week after he moved in, I regretted the invitation. It seemed nothing was satisfactory. He criticized everything I did. I became frustrated and moody. Soon I was taking my pent-up anger out on Dick. We began to bicker and argue.

Alarmed, Dick sought out our pastor and explained the situation The clergyman set up weekly counseling appointments for us. At the close of each session he prayed, asking God to soothe Dad's troubled mind.

But the months wore on and God was silent. Something had to be done and it was up to me to do it.

The next day I sat down with the phone book and methodically called each of the mental health clinics listed in the Yellow Pages. I explained my problem to each of the sympathetic voices that answered in vain.

Just when I was giving up hope, one of the voices suddenly exclaimed, "I just read something that might help you! Let me go get the article..."

I listened as she read. The article described a remarkable study done at a nursing home. All of the patients were under treatment for chronic depression. Yet their attitudes had improved dramatically when they were given responsibility for a dog.
I drove to the animal shelter that afternoon. After I filled out a questionnaire, a uniformed officer led me to the kennels. The odor of disinfectant stung my nostrils as I moved down the row of pens. Each contained five to seven dogs. Long-haired dogs, curly-haired dogs, black dogs, spotted dogs all jumped up, trying to reach me.

I studied each one but rejected one after the other for various reasons: too big, too small, too much hair. As I neared the last pen a dog in the shadows of the far corner struggled to his feet, walked to the front of the run and sat down. It was a pointer, one of the dog world's aristocrats. But this was a caricature of the breed.

Years had etched his face and muzzle with shades of gray. His hip bones jutted out in lopsided triangles. But it was his eyes that caught and held my attention. Calm and clear, they beheld me unwaveringly.

I pointed to the dog. "Can you tell me about him?" The officer looked, then shook his head in puzzlement. "He's a funny one. Appeared out of nowhere and sat in front of the gate. We brought him in, figuring someone would be right down to claim him. That was two weeks ago and we've heard nothing. His time is up tomorrow." He gestured helplessly.

As the words sank in I turned to the man in horror. "You mean you're going to kill him?"

"Ma'am," he said gently, "that's our policy. We don't have room for every unclaimed dog."

I looked at the pointer again. The calm brown eyes awaited my decision. "I'll take him," I said. I drove home with the dog on the front seat beside me. When I reached the house I honked the horn twice. I was helping my prize out of the car when Dad shuffled onto the front porch. "Ta-da! Look what I got for you, Dad!" I said excitedly.

Dad looked, then wrinkled his face in disgust. "If I had wanted a dog I would have gotten one. And I would have picked out a better specimen than that bag of bones. Keep it! I don't want it" Dad waved his arm scornfully and turned back toward the house.

Anger rose inside me. It squeezed together my throat muscles and pounded into my temples. "You'd better get used to him, Dad. He's staying!"

Dad ignored me. "Did you hear me, Dad?" I screamed. At those words Dad whirled angrily, his hands clenched at his sides, his eyes narrowed and blazing with hate. We stood glaring at each other like duelists, when suddenly the pointer pulled free from my grasp. He wobbled toward my dad and sat down in front of him. Then slowly, carefully, he raised his paw...
Dad's lower jaw trembled as he stared at the uplifted paw. Confusion replaced the anger in his eyes. The pointer waited patiently. Then Dad was on his knees hugging the animal.

It was the beginning of a warm and intimate friendship. Dad named the pointer Cheyenne . Together he and Cheyenne explored the community. They spent long hours walking down dusty lanes. They spent reflective moments on the banks of streams, angling for tasty trout. They even started to attend Sunday services together, Dad sitting in a pew and Cheyenne lying quietly at is feet.

Dad and Cheyenne were inseparable throughout the next three years. Dad 's bitterness faded, and he and Cheyenne made many friends. Then late one night I was startled to feel Cheyenne 's cold nose burrowing through our bed covers. He had never before come into our bedroom at night. I woke Dick, put on my robe and ran into my father's room. Dad lay in his bed, his face serene. But his spirit had left quietly sometime during the night.

Two days later my shock and grief deepened when I discovered Cheyenne lying dead beside Dad's bed. I wrapped his still form in the rag rug he had slept on. As Dick and I buried him near a favorite fishing hole, I silently thanked the dog for the help he had given me in restoring Dad's peace of mind.

The morning of Dad's funeral dawned overcast and dreary. This day looks like the way I feel, I thought, as I walked down the aisle to the pews reserved for family. I was surprised to see the many friends Dad and Cheyenne had made filling the church. The pastor began his eulogy. It was a tribute to both Dad and the dog who had changed his life.

And then the pastor turned to Hebrews 13:2. "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."

"I've often thanked God for sending that angel," he said.

For me, the past dropped into place, completing a puzzle that I had not seen before: the sympathetic voice that had just read the right article... Cheyenne 's unexpected appearance at the animal shelter... his calm acceptance and complete devotion to my father.. and the proximity of their deaths. And suddenly I understood. I knew that God had answered my prayers after all.
Life is too short for drama or petty things, so laugh hard, love truly and forgive quickly. Live while you are alive. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance.

And if you don't send this to anyone -- no one will know. But do share this with someone. Lost time can never be found.

God answers our prayers in His time... not ours...

If This Is Our "Sputnik Moment",..... Why Does It Feel More Like "Lost In Space"????


"Here's your new job in the growing economy"

Maybe it's because our President's speech sounded like we were "embarking on a new frontier", when in reality,.... it was same old shit,.... just a different spin doctor. Yeah, things are looking up,...if you happen to be in the top two percent of the wealth in this country.

But,... in the words of our President "We are poised for progress. Two years after the worst recession most of us have ever known, the stock market has come roaring back. Corporate profits are up. The economy is growing again."
Yeah,.... the "trickle down economy" of the rich Overlords is growing by leaps and bounds. How about yours and mine? Anyone out there feeling like they're doing better?

Since President Obama made his state of the union speech, has anyone in the working class felt relieved? He sounded pretty good, but,... Damn, Mr. President! I don't want to go work in China, or India,... or Mexico, or at Taco Bell, for that matter. We want real jobs here! And,.. we want them, yesterday. We'd like to keep our houses, if you don't mind.

Quite frankly,Mr. President,... We've been "poised for progress" for the last twelve years. You're right about business owner's dreams, but what about workers in manufacturing plants dreams? And,... public sector workers dreams? Firefighters, Police Officers, Street Workers, and all the people who have kept our cities running, only to be told the cities and states are out of money. How about them?

Maybe, the stimulus money went to the wrong place. After all, wasn't it those same "fat cats" that plunged us into this mess that are now realizing those "corporate profits" that are up? And, let's not even mention the Oil Industry! Was there any time in the last twelve years that they didn't reap record profits? Let's not forget them!

As you quote Robert Kennedy in your statement.... "The future is ours to win. But to get there, we can’t just stand still. “The future is not a gift. It is an achievement.” Sustaining the American Dream has never been about standing pat. It has required each generation to sacrifice, and struggle, and meet the demands of a new age."
You know,.. we all agree with you there, but, it's pretty tough to reach the goal of those achievements, when the playing field has been skewed by unchecked corporate greed and a world trade agreement that does nothing for the American people.

Those are words that have a hollow ring to them, when were spending more on wars that we have no reason to be fighting. Wars you promised to end, I might add. You want "take responsibility" for that. What do you mean... "WE" Mr. president? "WE" spoke and elected you, but you lied.

"I’m asking Congress to eliminate the billions in taxpayer dollars we currently give to oil companies. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but they’re doing just fine on their own. So instead of subsidizing yesterday’s energy, let’s invest in tomorrow’s." Who can argue with that? DUH!
That's a great sentiment, Mr. President, but, I don't know if you've noticed,... but we're getting screwed daily on the price of fuel, and you haven't done SHIT about putting a lid on it! How about "We" get off of "your" ass, and stop the raping of America for profit??????

Then, we were sold a bill of goods from "Corporate Oil", and the railroad industry became a thing of the past. We've been subservient to those corporations, ever since. Now, you want to "Level the playing field. And use the savings to lower the corporate tax rate for the first time in 25 years –- without adding to our deficit. It can be done."
Yeah,.... it can be done all right! Done on the backs of working class Americans.

Mr. President,.... most Americans don't give a flying f#%k about a world market, or the profit of countries like China.
What they want isn't.. PIE IN THE SKY.... TEN YEAR DOWN THE ROAD... economics. They want to keep their homes! They want to be able to tell their children that "hard work" will bring them a good life.... A life that has the American values that were fundamental to our parents, and will be fundamental in the future.

If that can be accomplished,... you will be the man of the century. The man with the solutions. If not,.... "you're part of the problem."

What should the President say in his State of the Union speech?..... How about "I'm Sorry", for starters.


Then maybe he could start saying "Yes we Should", instead of "Yes we can". It's obvious that the President has a lot to be sorry for. He could start by saying he's sorry he hasn't fulfilled his promises to stop torture and close Guantanamo.
He could say he's sorry he can't bring himself to follow the law and the constitution any better than his predecessor.
There's a ton of things he could say he's sorry for,.... but, he won't.

And, as someone who truly had high hopes that things would really change, I'm losing my faith that he has the ability make a difference. I believe that our President has lost his way, and,.... unfortunately, he is receiving his advice from the same people that have led us into an illegal and unending war. A war that is draining the American economy and costing us trillions.

For two years we have watched as our President reached out to Republicans, only to have his hand slapped time and time again. His quest for "bipartisanship" has virtually allowed a Republican minority to control the direction of this country. His inability to accomplish his promised changes have given rise to a new elite. An elite group who has been telling us what the American people want, while they orchestrate the direction the American people are going.

Yes,... President Obama did manage to rally the "lame duck" Congress into actually doing good things, but,.... It's looking like those good things will turn out to be short of their goals. And,... now that the Republicans have unseated so many Democrats, the future is looking a little troublesome for most Americans, to say the least.

I'll be watching tonight. Watching, and hoping that the President I voted for, steps up to the plate swinging. It's been way too long since the promise of change has been realized in the true sense of the word. I hope he taps one out of the park. If he doesn't,... we're in for more of the same old problems, with no end in sight.

Come On Mr. President.... What Happened To Your Promise To End Torture? ...Do the words...

......"Bradley Manning"..... and...."Guantanamo" have any meaning for you?


You know, I was moved to tears as I listened to the President speak to the people of Tucson. His eloquence and poignancy struck home to the tragedy of those events. I felt that he spoke for all of us with his words of healing and resolve. It made me proud to be lead by such a man.

But once the flowers were cast, and the world of real politics reappeared in the news of the day, the sodden emotions of oneness subsided, and a sense of "Same Old... Same Old" emerged. Yes, we grieved for the dead and wounded of Tucson, but had anything really changed? Were we any more attuned to civility? Had we experienced a reversal of the vitriol that seemed to permeate our leaders actions and words?

How does a nation heal itself from such cruelty, if it's leader can't find the gumption to stand up for what's right and just? Are we still the nation that everyone likes to hate? God knows we're making it easy to do it. Have we learned anything from the last two years,... or, the last ten, for that matter? Apparently not! How did we come to this? The seeds of greed sprout evil fruit.

It's time for the President to "man up", and speak out against the injustices that we are wreaking in the name of democracy. We put our hope and trust in Mr. Obama, and although he's shown us literacy (a quality easily forgotten during the last Presidency), what he hasn't shown us was a truth of conviction. Instead he has continued the policies of the Bush/Cheney dictatorship. Sure he's got a couple of good guy points, but generally speaking, we're still acting like the "Evil Empire". We want more than that! We want you stay on line with the principles you said you stood for!

Where's the justice for the war criminals, Dick and "W"? Where's the end of Guantanamo Bay? Where's the end of torture by the United States? Bradley Manning could tell us a bit about that, if he were allowed out of his solitary confinement. Where's the new technologies that will bring us jobs? Where's the investment in those jobs? Where's the man we voted for? What happened to those ideals he so eloquently spoke of when he was wooing us to elect him?

It's time, Mr. President........ It's time for you to step up and be the man you promised. Not the man who only seems to be able to step to the right. Not the conservative puppet of the "Corporatocracy".

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ...... How Far Have We Come Since His Death?


By the look of the world around us, I'd say "not very far".

There are 43 million people in the US living under the official poverty line. While there are more white people living in poverty (30 million) than black (10 million) and Hispanic (12 million) poor combined, the poverty rate for whites of 12% is significantly less than the 26% rate for blacks and the 25% rate for Hispanics. Those figures are even higher, today.

The US spent $774 billion directly on its military budget in 2010. In fact the US spends more on military than the rest of the top 10 countries in the world put together.

As we remember the courage and dedication of Dr. King, we must not forget that he fought against the injustices in this nation that affected 99% of us. His dream of a people united in brotherhood and mutual respect carried us towards a goal of a future without racism, poverty, and illiteracy.

Where we are today, however, is sad testimony to the failure of our leadership. Our leadership has forsaken its people, its principles, and its ideology, for the profit of a very few, at the expense of very many. I don't think Dr. King would be proud of our progress.

Not Happy With Your Government? Join a Militia......, And See ... ?

The truth? .... Probably not. The light?.... I hope not. The world?... No, that's the Navy. The meaning of patriotism?..... Now that's a nebulous phrase.

"Patriotism".... who's version? If we believed the federal government's version, we'd all have no problem with our rights being systematically suppressed. We'd know it was for our own good as "patriotic" citizens helping to fight terrorism. But,... if that's not the version you subscribe to, how about joining an "unorganized Militia"?

That's right, I'm talking....."Last stand", "Protect Home and Family", Armed to the Eyeballs,.... Militia.
While perusing the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution, it occurred to me that there actually might be some rules that govern State Militias. What I found was that there are rules and laws, but they aren't necessarily the same thing. And,.. neither is the definition of a "militia", for that matter.

I wandered on to this site and started reading the mission statement of "CONMILNET". At first, I thought,.... "that's not so bad. It sounds pretty reasonable and patriotic." But one thing that really struck me was.... you better not be an "atheist" or a "humanist", because if you are, you're one of the people this group is out to stop. Even though their intentions are based on the fundamentals of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, their concept that "God" has specifically given these rights may or may not be correct, but it certainly is placed ahead of all other reasoning. In regard to what our Forefathers intended of keeping "Church and State" separate, it sparks a prejudice that can only be explained as somewhat fanatical, or extremely intolerant, to say the least.

I'm a big fan of the "Constitution" and the "Bill of Rights", but, even though I agree with a lot of the principles this organization states as their mission, it's somewhat scary to come to the realization that so many out there are buying into the idea that "God" is on their side above all else. The idea that "Socialism" and "Humanism" are "forms of tyranny" demonstrates the misplaced paranoia that radicalizes these organizations.

So, I was curious as to when "the Third Continental Congress" took place. I figured it had to have happened in the seventeen hundreds, maybe the early eighteen hundreds, right? Wrong! What I found was pretty scary. "The Third Continental Congress" took place in 2009. That's right, I said 2009. Their "Articles of Freedom" were ratified (by themselves) in January of 2010. Evidently, it didn't make the evening news. Not Surprising. Another interesting fact I found was that there is no real connection to Congress, or the Government of The United States,.. whatsoever. This document (which can be found at...http://patriotwatchdog.com/OFFICIAL-AOF-1-31-10.pdf) reads like it is the true meaning of our Democracy, but it has a side to it that can only be recognized as the who's who for extremism in militia groups.

I may be dissatisfied with our government, and not happy about the way it's headed, but this outfit is down right Scary with a capital "S". Whether it's total denial of Global Warming due to carbon emissions, or their unbridled support for coal and oil, and their statement that "carbon dioxide generated from these sources is not an environmental Pollutant", this group is the living embodiment of the idiocy of the "Tea Party",.. on steroids. In Article 4 of their "Articles of Freedom", they call for "the repeal of all federal statutes regulating ownership, use and transfer of firearms and ammunition". That in itself doesn't shock me. In fact, that's one thing I sort of agree with. There are several other points I find myself agreeing with, as well, but when you put it all together with the rest of their "Articles of Freedom", it starts to look more like a strangely perverted manifesto for anarchy.

Maybe I'm just way too liberal to join up with any organization that advocates the downfall of Social Security, Welfare, Medicare, and Medicaid. I mean sometimes you've got to think beyond our own back yards. I'm not a big fan of World Trade Agreements, but organizations like The United Nations are all that stand between many peoples and genocide. Without them what would become of humanity? This group wants to pull all affiliations with groups like that. Maybe we (the American People) don't have to buy into the corporate take over of the world, but I can't see myself turning my back on the rest of the people of the world, either. There has to be more than the self centered views expressed in the "Articles Of Freedom", no matter how righteous they sound.

In my post - "What's Really Inspiring Hate For American Leaders?" (see just below this), I've stated some of the reasons that violence may be escalating in the United States. What seems to be of particular interest, is that some of those same reasons seem to be sparking an upsurge in militias and secular organizations, as well as extremist groups. So called "Patriot" groups virtually exploded in 2009 with an increase of 244% in participation, according to a study by the "Southern Poverty Law Center". In their words.... "the extraordinary growth is cause for grave concern".
After reading the findings of "The Third Continental Congress", although I find myself in sympathy with many of their principles, I'd have to agree with the SPLC about " cause for Grave Concern". These groups take themselves way too seriously to be ignored.
